After watching very closely with the outfit changes, everyone's costume except Penny's stayed exactly the same design wise and colour wise from near the end of "Ghost in Space" to the end of season 2. For Penny, her season 2 outfit was the same design as her late season 1 costume but it changed colour. Any thoughts?

Yes I think you are right. I say "think" as I havent seen the season 1/2 eps for a long time. I didnt really like her season 3 outfit all that much. It was too loose and looked a little daggy compared to marta's outfit. Do you think that the producers put her in a loose dress because she was so shapely and the the loose fitting dress hid her figure?

Ah, "Ghost in Space"! I love those scenes where they're doing domestic stuff, like fitting Penny for new clothes. Lostintoys.com quotes some of a Starlog interview with Paul Zastupnevich, costume designer for LIS, where he says: "I used primary colors in the early days of Lost in Space because I knew it would be a show for kids, and they love color. I wanted each individual to have their own color, so you could instantly tell who they were from a distance. I tailored the hues to the characters, because certain colors make you feel good, while others make you feel threatened." Zastupnevich even had spacey names for the colors he chose such as "meteor red," "comet green," "solar yellow," "asteroid green," "orbital purple" and "jet pink." In 1967 Zastupnevich won an award from the Costume Designers Guild for "Best Costumed Television Series" for his work on Lost in Space-- would this have been for the 2nd or the 3rd season, I wonder, or the whole series up to that point? So, apparently the orange hue is 'tailored' to Penny's character-- & I must agree it 'suits' her just fine! I'm assuming PZ considered it one of the feel-good colors, too... Evidently we are assumed to be able to tell Will & Penny apart easily enough anyway, since he gave them both predominantly orange! Somewhere, I wish I could find it again, I read an interview with Angela where she talks about her costumes, & mentions that a deep orange-y red is one of her favorite colors, so when she got her Season 2 outfit she was very happy with it. I can't recall if she had any input in the color choice not, though, or if it was just a pleasant surprise. She also said she liked hot pink & pale green.

She was very beautiful, wasn't she? She is my favourite in the show. Pretty Penny I call her.
